Internet Legends Tour at Portway!
Recently we hosted the Internet Legends Tour, hosted by Google and Parentzone. We were joined by our local MP, Kit Malthouse, and watched an exciting interactive presentation which promoted four key rules for keeping safe online for keeping safe online:
- Think before you share
Pupils learnt about how quickly things can be shared online and why it’s important to only share things they’d be happy for everyone to see
- Protect your stuff
Pupils learnt what tools are available to keep their stuff safe online – passwords, privacy settings and more – and why they are so important.
- Check it’s for real
Pupils learnt that not everything you see online is true and heard some tips for spotting online scams. We told your child that if they’re not sure about something, they should always check with you.
- Respect each other
The children heard about how important it is to treat other people the way they want to be treated online. They learned how to report bad behaviour and abuse.
During the presentation children were able to answer different questions using large foam hands to show whether they agreed or disagreed. It was great fun taking part and the large screens and sound effects ensured that everyone was highly engaged in this important topic!
