Farewell Mrs Davis!
Today we said farewell to Mrs Davis who retires (officially tomorrow) from Portway Junior School after being a lunchtime supervisor since 1990! She has seen hundreds of children pass through the school, enjoying their lunchtimes and playground games. Margaret's own (now grown-up) children attended the school and her grandchildren, now at Harrow Way, were also Portway pupils. Mrs Davis has been part of the Portway Junior community for over 26 years and, before even that, worked for the Hampshire authority in the kitchen at Harrow Way school.
Mr Deery, Headteacher of Portway Junior, said "Her loyalty towards the school over these years has been amazing. Margaret has promised to still be involved in the school, so we are pleased that we won't be losing touch."
Mrs Davis is part of the memories of many Portway staff and pupils and these will live on in the playground games she has kindly given us for everyone to enjoy on the playground. Below are a few photos of the special assembly we had today to say our farewells and best wishes for Mrs D's retirement.
