Leavers Assembly & Celebrations
Today was the last day and many goodbyes were said. The first were to our fine Year 6 pupils who are embarking on the secondary school adventure after the holidays. We wish them luck and know that they will all do well at their new schools.
We thanked our School Councillors, House Captains, Sports Captains and Deputies, 'P' Factor finalists, Librarians, Eco Ambassadors, Reading Buddies and Y5 sports leaders for their hard work and support throughout the year. They really do make a valuable contribution to the life of the school and we are proud of our hardworking pupils.
Other goodbyes were said to Mr Goulding - who is leaving to take up a teaching position at Box Primary School in Corsham, Mr Smith - who is retiring and of course the legendary Mrs Robinson who is also retiring and who received gifts from the parents, pupils and the staff at the school!
We also celebrated Miss Mullins' and Mr Stafford's upcoming weddings and wished them well for their new futures and said our goodbyes to Mrs Ibbotson who is expecting her second child soon! We congratulated Kiva for winning first prize in the Ocado colouring competition linked to the Andover Carnival and we also congratulated Matthew Cooke (Y4) and Lucy Sullivan (Y6).
Matthew's congratulations were for achieving a silver medal in the World Tae Kwon Do Championships. Lucy's congratulations were for being selected to train with Team GB in Portugal this autumn as part of the gymnastics tumbling team. We are proud of all of our pupils and are very proud to have internationally recognised athletes as part of the Portway Team; we look forward to hearing about their successes!
We wish everyone involved in the Portway community a happy and relaxing summer holiday! Don't forget to keep reading - the Summer Reading Challenge at Andover Library is running throughout the holiday - it would be great to know that Portway pupils got stuck into this!
See you all on September 7th for a new school year!
