Anne Wan author visits Y3

25/11/2016

On Friday 18th November, an author called Anne Wan came to our school and talked about her new book which is called ‘The Secrets of the Snow Globe: Vanishing Voices’. She also taught us how to build up our own adventure story and how to edit a story. She said to read, read, read and read so that you can write your own brilliant action story. She also told us how long it took for her to write her actual story (which wasn’t very long) but then she told us it took her a whole year to edit it! We really enjoyed finding out more about how an author actually writes a novel and it will help us to write our own stories this term.

Thanks to Anne for coming in and to our teachers for arranging this opportunity for us.

The Secrets of the Snow Globe: Vanishing Voices, is the first in an exciting adventure series that Anne is currently writing; the second book will be published in the autumn of 2017. The book is a chapter book aimed specifically at pupils who are aged between 6 and 8 years of age. Below is some information about the story:

Jack was right. They were trapped inside the snow globe and it was all her fault. She turned away from him, pained with guilt. If only she had not touched the globe...

Louisa and her older brother, Jack, shrink into their Grandma’s snow globe and land in a silent village.  They discover that the villager’s voices and music have  been stolen by a mysterious villain. In a land of magic, snow and secrets, they embark on a dangerous quest to retrieve the voices from the villain’s mountaintop castle. Can they succeed in helping their new friends and find a way back to Grandma’s house?

Are you ready for the journey?
