Online Safety

05/04/2017

Our second assembly about staying safe when we are online can be viewed below. We remembered the SMART rules from our first assembly and talked about the ways in which the internet can be useful - for learning, staying in touch with long-distance friends - as well as the ways in which the internet can be dangerous - attachments can carry viruses and not everyone is who they say they are online.

We also watched the following animation created by CEOP (The Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre) which helped us to understand what behaviour is not okay online and how it is important to look after ourselves when we use technology.

Know Your Friends

The support that children are given in managing themselves online is vital as the internet is such a huge place. It is by talking and working together that children can be encouraged to make good choices about keeping themselves safe when they are using technology in and away from school. We hope that this helps.

The following website was also suggested as a good place to get advice and top tips - Safety Net Kids.

We hope you also saw our first POST in the Portway Press last week - if you missed it, you can catch up in the 'Portway Press' section of our website. Our first assembly can still be viewed by clicking on any of the Year Group tabs along the top of this page.
