Swan Boy production
Year 6 recently performed their end of year show to parents and friends at Portway. This year their showcase was based on the story 'Swan Boy' - a novel by Nikki Sheehan - as pupils' classwork this term has involved exploring the themes of the book. These tell the story of Johnny who is struggling to settle into a new secondary school. Throughout the novel, Johnny discovers his inner strength and learns more about how he can become the person he wants to be; themes that resonate strongly with our Y6 pupils at this time in their lives.
The performance of Swan Boy allowed pupils to show off the results of their incredibly hard work; there were solo performances, brilliant acting and dancing - including an interpretation of the Swan Lake ballet. The author, Nikki Sheehan, also visited the school to see some of the pupils' work and was blown away by the creativity and hard work of everyone involved. Everyone who has been part of this should feel very proud of themselves, we will certainly miss Y6 when they leave!
