Child & Family Support Worker

Hi, I am Clare and I'm delighted to introduce myself as your Child and Family Support Worker here at Portway Junior School.
I'm here to work alongside you and our families to help ensure every child has the best possible chance to thrive, both in school and at home. Whether you're facing a tricky patch, need someone to talk to, or just want some practical advice and support I'm here to help.
How can I help?
I am able to provide non-judgemental support with a range of issues that may be affecting your child or family, including:
- Emotional wellbeing and mental health - helping children manage worries, anxiety or low mood
- Behaviour and relationships - supporting positive behaviour at home and school and building strong family relationships
- Attendance concerns - working with families to overcome barriers to regular school attendance
- Family challenges - providing practical support during difficult times such as bereavement, separation or family conflict
- Connecting with services - signposting you to support in the local area, such as housing, financial advice or health services
- Parenting support - offering strategies and advice to help you feel more confident in your parenting.
When to get in touch:
You don't need to wait until things feel overwhelming. Early support can make a real difference. Please reach out if:
- You're concerned about your child's wellbeing, behaviour or happiness
- Your family is going through a difficult time and you'd like someone to talk to
- You're not sure where to turn for help with a particular issue
