Year 4 at Hooke Court - January 2025

Day 1

What a fantastic first day! After arriving safely and eating our lunch, we enjoyed some team building activities. The floor is lava and ordering ourselves in different ways on the benches without falling off were our favourites. After a delicious pasta dinner, we headed out to learn what it was like as a Roman soldier. We laughed a lot when Mr Crocker and Miss Robinson dressed up in their armour and helmet. Now, we’re all tucked up in bed and looking forward to tomorrow - goodnight!

Day 2

What another wonderful day! We started nice and early with a delicious breakfast of cereal, beans and toast, before heading into the sunshine for some Roman cooking, weaving and jewellery making. After lunch we learned how to write our names in Latin, make a Roman oil lamp and march like a Roman soldier. To become part of the Roman army, we learned how to wield a shield and protect each other - this came in useful when we were bombarded by tennis balls and bean bags. The teachers will have to try harder next time! This evening we unwound while creating some beautiful mosaics. It’s been a very enjoyable day, but we are all fast asleep now and looking forward to what our last day has in store. See you all tomorrow!

Day 3

We had a great final day at Hooke Court. We especially enjoyed making aquaducts and Roman catapults.
